Levchenko won at the World Athletics Tour event in Finland

Ukrainian high jumper Yulia Levchenko won the gold medal at the Paavo Nurmi Games, a World Continental Athletics Tour event. The competition took place in Turku, Finland, where the Ukrainian athlete posted the best result in the high jump.

In Finland, Levchenko competed against seven other high jumpers, according to Ukrinform.

Yulia cleared the first three heights without any mistakes, including 1.87 meters. However, she cleared the 1.91-meter and 1.94-meter bars on her second attempt.

After 1.94 meters, only two athletes remained in the competition—Levchenko and Jamaican representative Lamara Destin. The Ukrainian cleared the next height of 1.97 meters on her third attempt, while her rival failed to clear that bar.

After securing the victory, Yulia requested a height of 2.00 meters, but her two attempts were unsuccessful. The Ukrainian moved her third attempt to 2.03 meters—a height that could have set a new personal record. However, she was unable to clear the bar.

Thus, a result of 1.97 meters was enough for Levchenko to win the prestigious tournament. She had cleared a higher height only twice since the start of the year (1.99 meters).

It should be noted that for Levchenko, this was her second international competition in a few days following the Diamond League event in Rabat (Morocco), where she finished fourth with a result of 1.91 meters

It should be noted that in the 2026 summer season, Levchenko secured her second victory — prior to this, the Ukrainian athlete triumphed at the Diamond League meet in Xiamen, China, with a jump of 1.99 meters, where Olympic medalist Iryna Gerashchenko of Ukraine took silver.

This was reported by Suspilne Sport.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Paralympians finished the fourth day of the Games in Milan without any medals.

Svitolina also confidently defeated the American and advanced to the round of 16 at Indian Wells.

Sobolenko lost in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
