Lyudmila Kichenok advanced to the second round of the 2026 Wimbledon doubles tournament

The Ukrainian-American duo of Lyudmila Kichenok and Desiree Kravchik got off to a strong start at the 2026 Wimbledon Tennis Championships

In their first-round doubles match, they secured a convincing victory over a team consisting of another Ukrainian, Oleksandra Oliynikova, and a Mexican, Renata Sarasua.

The match, which essentially became a sort of “Ukrainian derby” for fans, ended rather quickly.

The players spent just 52 minutes on the grass court, during which Kichenok and Kravchik completely controlled the match.

The final score was 6-1, 6-0 in favor of the tournament’s 11th-seeded pair. It is worth noting that in the second set, the duo of Oliynikova and Sarasua failed to win a single game, underscoring the clear dominance of the match favorites.

According to the statistics, Kichenok and Kravchik served two aces and converted six break points.

In contrast, their opponents failed to capitalize on any of their four break points, managing only a single ace.

This victory advanced Lyudmila Kichenok and Desiree Kravchik to the second round of the tournament (the round of 16).

In their next match, they will face the winners of the match between the pairs of Yulia Starodubtseva (Ukraine) / Peyton Sterns (USA) and Isabel Havervlag (Netherlands) / Panna Udvardi (Hungary).

If Yulia Starodubtseva wins her opening match, spectators can look forward to another high-stakes Ukrainian showdown at the Grand Slam tournament.

Throughout the season, Ukrainian tennis players have demonstrated a high level of play, making their performances among the most anticipated events at this year’s Wimbledon.
