On September 4–5, Brussels will host the final of the prestigious “Diamond League” track and field series. Ukraine will be represented at the final tournament by Oleg Doroshchuk, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, and Iryna Gerashchenko—all three will compete in the high jump.

Oleg Doroshchuk has advanced to the Diamond League final for the third time in his career. On September 4, the Ukrainian athlete will compete for the title alongside six rivals.

His competitors will be Romain Beckford of Jamaica, Thomas Carmoy of Belgium, Juvon Harrison of the United States, Mateusz Kolodziejski of Poland, Eric Portillo of Mexico, and Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy.

On September 5, Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Iryna Gerashchenko will take to the high jump pit.

The Ukrainian athletes’ rivals will be Australians Nicola Olislagers and Eleanor Patterson, Lamara Destin of Jamaica, Belgians Merel Maes and Nafissatou Thiam, and Serbian Angelina Topić.

For Yaroslava Mahuchikh, this will be her sixth consecutive Diamond League final. The Ukrainian track and field athlete has an impressive track record in the championship: in 2021 and 2025, she won silver medals, and from 2022 to 2024, she claimed the title three years in a row.

Iryna Herashchenko has stood on the podium at the Diamond League final twice. In 2022, she won a silver medal, and in 2024, she took bronze.

This year’s Diamond League season consisted of 14 stages.

At the finals in Brussels, track and field athletes will compete for titles in 32 events—16 men’s and 16 women’s.

For Ukrainian athletes, the finals will be another opportunity to add to their medal tally at this prestigious international competition.

On Thursday, August 27, the final regular-season meet of the 2026 Diamond League took place in Zurich. In the women’s high jump, Ukraine will be represented by three athletes: Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Iryna Herashchenko, and Yulia Levchenko. The women’s competition will be broadcast on the “Suspilne Sport” platforms.
