Mainz lose 1:3 to Eintracht in Bundesliga

In Germany, football club Mainz suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 1:3 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. South Korean midfielder Lee Jae-sung started for Mainz but played only the first half.

Three goals from Eintracht

As Korea Herald reports, the match took place at the Mewa Arena. Can Uzun put Eintracht ahead in the ninth minute, while former Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt scored in first-half stoppage time. Before that, in the 43rd minute, Mainz's goalkeeper saved a penalty.

In the 60th minute, Uzun completed his brace. Mainz reduced the deficit in the 89th minute through a goal by Philipp Tietz. Lee Jae-sung played as an attacking midfielder, did not register a single shot and made one cross. He was replaced at half-time by Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer.

Before the match against Eintracht, Mainz drew 0:0 with Paderborn and defeated Hamburg 5:0 at the start of the Bundesliga season. The team also thrashed VfB Krieschow 9:0 in the first round of the German Cup on August 24. Lee Jae-sung provided one assist each in the cup match and the game against Hamburg.
