France's match at the 2026 World Cup may be suspended due to inclement weather
The 2026 World Cup group stage match between France and Iraq is in jeopardy due to adverse weather conditions in Philadelphia.
Forecasters are predicting thunderstorms and heavy rain in the city. According to U.S. safety regulations, if lightning is detected within a radius of about 13 km from the stadium, the match must be suspended for at least 30 minutes. If lightning continues, the countdown will restart.
The France vs. Iraq match is scheduled for June 22 and will take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
