Ukrainian women's épée fencers won bronze at the European Fencing Championships
The Ukrainian women’s épée fencing team won bronze medals at the European Championships held in the French city of Antony.
On the final day of the continental championship, our athletes secured a victory over the Italian team in an extremely tense match.
Our women’s épée team—comprising Olena Kryvytska, Inna Brovko, Anna Maksymenko, and Yana Shemyakina—climbed to the third step of the podium. The Ukrainian fencers demonstrated high skill and a remarkable will to win.
“On the final day of the continental championship, our women’s épée team—comprising Olena Kryvytska, Inna Brovko, Anna Maksymenko, and Yana Shemyakina—climbed to the third step of the podium,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Ukrainian mixed team’s opponent in the decisive battle for the medal was the reigning Olympic champions—the strong and experienced Italian national team.
The match kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the very last thrust, but ended with a narrow victory for the Ukrainian women with a score of 29–28.
This success marked a spectacular and emotional conclusion to our delegation’s performance at the tournament.
