Mexico and Brazil have taken the lead in their respective groups at the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup promises to be the most exciting soccer event in recent years. For the first time in history, the World Cup will be hosted by three countries simultaneously—the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

This is the first tournament featuring 48 teams, which has allowed some lesser-known national teams to qualify, including Curaçao, Cape Verde, Jordan, and Haiti.

Mexico is firmly in the lead in Group A, having secured three wins: against South Africa (2–0), South Korea (1–0), and the Czech Republic (3–0). South Korea, meanwhile, defeated the Czech Republic (2–1) but lost to South Africa (1–0).

In Group B, Switzerland took first place after drawing with Qatar (1–1), crushing Bosnia and Herzegovina (4–1), and defeating Canada (2–1). Canada, in turn, crushed Qatar 6–0 after drawing with Bosnia and Herzegovina 1–1.

Group C showcased the strength of Brazil and Morocco, both of which earned 7 points. The Brazilians drew with Morocco (1–1) and then confidently defeated Haiti (3–0) and Scotland (3–0).

The Moroccan team also proved stronger than Scotland (1–0) and Haiti (4–2). The Scots managed to secure only one narrow 1–0 victory over Haiti.

In Group D, the U.S. team advanced to the Round of 16 as the group winner despite an unexpected 3–2 loss to Turkey in the final match. Prior to that, the Americans routed Paraguay (4–1) and defeated Australia (2–0).

The Australians, meanwhile, defeated Turkey (2–0) and drew with Paraguay (0–0). In Group E, Germany and Ivory Coast each earned 6 points.

The Germans crushed Curaçao (7–1), snatched a victory over Ivory Coast (2–1), but unexpectedly lost to Ecuador (2–1). The Ivorians secured victories over Ecuador (1–0) and Curaçao (2–0).

Group F delivered a true goal-scoring extravaganza. The Netherlands played a hard-fought draw with Japan (2–2), then crushed Sweden (5–1) and Tunisia (3–1).

The Swedish national team crushed Tunisia (5–1) but was unable to beat Japan (1–1). The Japanese, for their part, demonstrated perfect consistency, crushing Tunisia 4–0.

Egypt leads Group G thanks to a draw with Belgium (1–1) and a victory over New Zealand (3–1). Iran and New Zealand played to a 2–2 draw. Group H favorite Spain crushed Saudi Arabia 4–0 after a scoreless draw with Cape Verde (0–0).

Uruguay currently has two draws—against Saudi Arabia (1–1) and Cape Verde (2–2). Group I is led by France and Norway. The French defeated Senegal (3–1) and Iraq (3–0), while the Norwegians beat Iraq (4–1) and Senegal (3–2).

In Group J, Argentina confirmed its status as the favorite by defeating Algeria (3–0) and Austria (2–0). The Austrians have a victory over Jordan (3–1) to their credit. In Group K, Colombia defeated Uzbekistan (3–1) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (1–0).
