Messi scores 100th goal for Inter Miami in match against Cruz Azul — Asharq Al-Awsat
In Miami, United States, Inter Miami defeated Mexico’s Cruz Azul 2:0 in the Campeones Cup match. Lionel Messi scored his 100th goal for the club, while Casemiro added another, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
Messi’s milestone goal
The Argentine opened the scoring in the 24th minute, heading in a cross from Luis Suarez. The goal was Messi’s 100th in 115 appearances for Inter Miami across all competitions.
Messi also scored his first goal for the American club in a match against Cruz Azul. In July 2023, he converted a free kick in stoppage time to give Inter Miami a 2:1 victory in the Argentine’s debut match for the team.

Casemiro’s goal and the next game
In the 81st minute, Casemiro set the final score by heading in Messi’s corner kick. It was the Brazilian midfielder’s fourth goal in his last five matches, and he scored all of them with headers. Before that, he scored in three consecutive games — against Montreal, Atlanta United and Chicago — while on Saturday he did not score against Nashville.
The Campeones Cup became another trophy for Inter Miami in the three years since Messi joined the team. The club previously won the Leagues Cup in 2023, the Supporters’ Shield in 2024 and the MLS Cup in 2025. Inter Miami will play its next MLS match at home against San Diego on Sunday, and the team is in second place in the Eastern Conference ahead of the game.
