Mourinho says he does not feel pressure to win the Champions League
Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho said he does not feel additional pressure because of the need to win the Champions League during his second spell at the club in Spain. On Tuesday, the team is due to begin the tournament with a match against reigning Italian champions Inter at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.
As Cyprus Mail reports, the Champions League was the only trophy Mourinho did not win during his first stint at Real Madrid. The coach stressed that he does not consider himself indebted to the club because of the results of his previous spell.

“No, these are two different spells. When I left in 2013, we won what we won and lost what we lost, and we gave everything. And that was it. What I have to do now has nothing to do with the past,” Mourinho said.

He also noted that in 2010, Real Madrid did not even reach the Champions League quarter-finals and had not played in a semi-final for a long time. According to him, since then the Madrid club has won six titles in the tournament in just over a decade.
Team stability
The match against Inter will take place after Real Madrid’s first setback during Mourinho’s second spell — a 0-1 La Liga defeat to Real Betis on Friday. The manager said the team wants to win every game and every tournament, but needs stability and structure to achieve major results.
Forward Kylian Mbappe, answering a question about the atmosphere in the dressing room and his relationship with Vinicius Junior, said the situation had not changed compared with last season, although the team has a different coach. Real Madrid, 15-time European champions, are aiming to win the Champions League for the first time since 2024 after two seasons without a major trophy.
