In Australia, the North Melbourne Kangaroos defeated the Carlton Blues 33:23 in an AFLW match at Arden Street Oval. The win was the Kangaroos’ 32nd in a row — a record streak in the league.
As ABC News Australia reports, North Melbourne retained its unbeaten status this season, recording its fifth win in five matches. The team’s streak has continued since a draw with Geelong in the second round of the 2024 season.
Carlton had a chance to reduce the deficit
In front of more than 3,500 fans, Carlton kicked two consecutive goals in the second quarter and took a three-point lead. Before half-time, North Melbourne regained the advantage and led by nine points.
Late in the game, Carlton’s Lily Goss took a mark 35 metres from goal and could have reduced the deficit from 10 points to four. However, she played on without noticing an opposition player behind her and was immediately tackled. The incident became the Blues’ final opportunity to change the course of the match.

Riddell and Garner led the winners
Ash Riddell recorded 39 disposals, while Jasmine Garner had 30 disposals, five clearances and a goal. In the third quarter, Tahlia Randall hyperextended her left elbow but returned to the field after receiving medical assistance.
Carlton suffered its first defeat of the season and now has a 4-1 record. Team captain Abbie McKay, who recorded 27 disposals and five clearances, noted that her team lost to North Melbourne by 53 points last year and that the current result indicates progress.
In other Sunday matches, Melbourne defeated Port Adelaide 74:23, Richmond beat St Kilda 58:43, and Sydney won the derby against GWS 87:56.
