Interim coach Robert Moreno arrives in South Korea
Spanish interim head coach Robert Moreno has arrived in South Korea and said he aims to build a team that fans will be proud of. Moreno and his coaching staff flew into Incheon International Airport on Sunday, The Korea Herald reports.
Contract until the end of November
The Korea Football Association announced Moreno’s interim appointment 12 days before his arrival. The agreement with the 48-year-old specialist and his staff will remain in force until November 27. They will lead the national team in the next six friendly matches.
South Korea will host Ecuador on September 24, Uruguay on September 28, Venezuela on October 2 and Uzbekistan on October 6. The football association is also trying to arrange two more matches in November.

Preparation for the Asian Cup
Moreno said he had long wanted to lead the South Korean national team and considers the job a great honor. According to him, since his appointment he has been watching the national team’s previous matches every day and trying to learn more about Korean culture.
The coach stressed that even with interim status, he intends to make the team stronger, unite the players and ensure that people are proud of the national team. After six friendly matches, South Korea will play in the AFC Asian Cup, which will take place in Saudi Arabia in January. The association said Moreno could remain for the tournament depending on the team’s results over the next two months.
At the end of June, previous coach Hong Myung-bo resigned, taking responsibility for the national team’s elimination in the group stage of the World Cup. Moreno is expected to announce the squad for the September and October matches at a press conference in the city of Cheonan on Monday.
