Possible opponents
One possible opponent is Teofimo Lopez, the holder of the WBA title. Lopez attended the boxing event in Las Vegas and won the title in a fight against Rolly Romero last month. A bout between Garcia and Lopez could be a unification fight.
Devin Haney is also among the options. Garcia defeated him in 2024, but the result of that fight was later changed to a no contest after Garcia tested positive for banned substances. According to the outlet, Haney allegedly does not want a rematch.
Other possible opponents named by The National are Australian Liam Paro and Filipino Manny Pacquiao. According to the outlet, 47-year-old Pacquiao is seeking a fight in early 2027, while his potential rematch with Floyd Mayweather fell through.
