Anna Nordqvist explains choice of Charley Hull to go first in Solheim Cup singles
Europe's golf team defeated the United States 15-13 in the Solheim Cup at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. In Sunday's singles matches, the Europeans won seven of the 12 available points, reclaimed the trophy and won the tournament outright for the first time since 2021, Sky Sports News reports.
Europe's strong start
Europe captain Anna Nordqvist praised the work of the players, caddies and staff who had prepared the team for the competition over two years. According to her, the Europeans paid particular attention to starting matches quickly, and blue dominated the scoreboard from the beginning of Sunday.
On the previous day, the United States team levelled the score in the contest after Jennifer Kupcho's late birdies on the 17th and 18th holes in Saturday's fourballs match. However, on Sunday Europe won six of the first eight singles matches — for the first time in its Solheim Cup history.

Hull justified the captain's decision
Nordqvist put England's Charley Hull out first in the singles, although she had earned only 0.5 points with Lottie Woad in the first four sessions. The captain called the decision obvious, citing statistics: Hull and Woad were among the four players with the most birdies during the week.
Hull secured her first full point of the tournament by beating Megan Khang 3&2. In the previous Solheim Cup, she defeated Nelly Korda 6&4 in a singles match. After the match against Khang, Hull said she had created many scoring opportunities throughout the week but had not converted enough putts. On Sunday, she said, she played consistently despite difficult weather conditions.
Lottie Woad also claimed her first Solheim Cup victory, beating Auston Kim and taking Europe's score to 14 points. The hosts' final victory was secured by Carlota Ciganda, who defeated Jennifer Kupcho.
