Turkey defeats Switzerland at the European Volleyball Championship — Anadolu Agency
Turkey’s national team defeated Switzerland 3:0 in a Group D match at the men’s European Volleyball Championship. The match was held at BT Arena in Cluj, Romania, and ended with set scores of 25:23, 25:19, 25:19.
A tense first set
In the opening set, the Turkish team took the lead, but the Swiss managed to come back and went three points ahead late in the set. Turkey levelled the score at 21:21 and secured the set 25:23. Anadolu Agency reported on the course of the match.

First win in the group
In the second set, Turkey scored four consecutive points at the start and took a 13:9 lead. The team later extended its advantage to 20:15 and won the set 25:19. In the third set, the Turkish volleyball players went ahead 8:3. Switzerland reduced the deficit to 15:12, but Turkey responded with three consecutive points, and an attack by Kafer Kırkıt made it 20:15.
The match lasted 87 minutes. It was Turkey’s first victory at the tournament after defeats to Germany and France in the previous two Group D matches. The Swiss national team suffered its third consecutive defeat. Turkey’s next opponents will be the tournament hosts, Romania; the match is scheduled for Monday and will begin at 17:00 GMT.
