Oliynikova has qualified for the main draw of the WTA tournament in Strasbourg
Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliinykova has advanced to the main draw of the WTA tournament in Strasbourg. In the decisive qualifying match, she defeated Kazakhstani tennis player Yulia Putintseva, having made it through two qualifying rounds.
This was reported by Glavkom on May 17.
Oliynikova got down to business right from the start of the match. She won three games in a row and, with a single break, built a lead over her opponent (3-0). Putintseva recovered and soon tried to close the gap on the Ukrainian player, but after two exchanges of breaks, she lost the set.
In the second set, the rivals exchanged breaks twice by the middle of the set. For a while, they focused on their own serves. The decisive moment came in the tenth game—Oliynikova increased the pressure and converted the match point on Putintseva’s serve on her first attempt.
In the round of 32, the Ukrainian representative will face Alexandra Eala of the Philippines. The winner of this match will face a Czech tennis player in the next round. Who that will be will be decided by compatriots Marie Bouzková and Kateřina Siniaková.
