Pascal Wehrlein has been crowned Formula E champion for the second time

German Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein won the Formula E drivers' championship for the second time, even though he finished 14th in the season's final race—the London E-Prix. Briton Taylor Barnard won Sunday’s race, according to Channel NewsAsia, citing Reuters.

The 31-year-old Wehrlein first became champion of the electric racing series with Porsche during the 2023–24 season. He has now joined Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne as one of only two drivers to have won the Formula E championship twice.

On Saturday, Verlain won the first race of the London weekend. It was his 11th career victory in Formula E and his third of the season. Thanks to this win, he moved up from third to first place in the overall standings.

Verlaine’s main rival, Jake Dennis of Andretti, started Sunday’s race from 16th place. In the final laps, the German driver lost positions following an incident on lap 31 and ended up outside the points. Dennis also lost positions in that incident and finished the race in 18th place, while New Zealander Mitch Evans of Jaguar Racing took fourth place.

At the end of the season, Wehrlein had 169 points—five more than Dennis. Evans finished third with 160 points. Jaguar won the Formula E team championship. The London race also marked the end of the four-season GEN3 era: next season, the series will enter a new phase of development.
