Before the match at Roland Garros, the tennis player's room was flooded

Before the match at Roland Garros, the tennis player's room was flooded

American tennis player Alex Mikkelsen had a very strange night before the start of the French Open. Water began pouring from the ceiling in his hotel room, forcing him to move to another room in the middle of the night. But the very next morning, he confidently won his match. This was reported by Glavkom.

21-year-old American Alex Mikkelsen said that the unpleasant incident occurred just a few hours before his first match at the tournament in Paris.

According to the tennis player, it all started about five minutes before midnight. He was already lying in bed when he noticed that the air conditioning panel on the ceiling had begun to sag strangely and fill with water. When the athlete touched the panel, water simply gushed down into the room.

Due to the serious leak, Mikkelsen had to urgently pack his things and move to another room. The tennis player said he carried his suitcases between floors himself and made four trips from the second floor to the fourth. All of this happened in the middle of the night before the start of one of the season’s major tournaments.

The athlete’s fitness tracker later showed that he hadn’t managed to get a good night’s sleep. However, these domestic issues had almost no impact on the American’s performance. By morning, he was already on the court and confidently defeated Oleksandr Shevchenko in the first round of Roland Garros.

The match ended with a score of 6-2, 6-4, 6-2. The whole thing took just an hour and a half. What is particularly impressive is that throughout the entire match, Mikkelsen did not allow his opponent to earn a single break point on his serve.

In the second round, another American tennis player awaits Mikkelsen—Nishesh Basavareddhi. He was one of the main stars of the tournament’s opening round when he sensationally knocked out seventh-seeded Taylor Fritz.

Alex says they’ve known each other since childhood. “We played against each other when we were eight or nine years old,” the tennis player said.

Mikkelsen also spoke very highly of his upcoming opponent and called him one of the most dangerous young players. “He has a fantastic feel for the ball. And he’s an incredible fighter,” the American said.

According to the tennis player, their match at a Grand Slam tournament will be a crucial and highly emotional one, as they have known each other for a long time and came of age in American tennis almost simultaneously.

Alex Mikkelsen is considered one of the most promising young tennis players in the U.S. Over the past two seasons, he has steadily climbed the ATP rankings and regularly advances to the later stages of major tournaments. This year’s Roland Garros could become one of the most successful tournaments of his career—even despite a very rocky start in Paris.

Former undisputed super middleweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez commented on the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven, which took place in Giza (Egypt).

Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven commented on his bout against Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, in which he suffered a defeat.

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Dutchman Rico Verhoeven by technical knockout in the 11th round and successfully defended his heavyweight championship belts.
