Saudi Arabia national team defender Saud Abdulhamid was unable to join the national team in time for preparations for the 2026 World Cup due to the theft of his passport in the Netherlands.

The incident occurred in Amsterdam, where the player had traveled with his family for a wedding ceremony. Unknown individuals broke into his car and stole his personal belongings, including his passport.
As a result, Abdulhamid was unable to fly to Riyadh and then travel with the team to the United States, where the Saudi national team will hold a training camp and play friendly matches against Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Senegal.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation, together with the Ministry of Sports and the embassy in the Netherlands, is working to issue new documents for the player.
Abdulhamid plays for the French club Lens on loan from Italy’s Roma and is part of the preliminary roster for the 2026 World Cup.
