Igor Ovsyannikov, a distinguished basketball coach in Ukraine who trained generations of Ukrainian players, has passed away at the age of 88.
This was reported by the Dnipro basketball club.
Ovsyannikov made a significant contribution to the development of basketball in Dnipro and worked for many years at the club’s academy, where he trained young athletes.
He was the first coach of the renowned captain of BC Dnipro, Maksym Zakurdaev, and a mentor to dozens of basketball players who went on to compete at the highest levels.
The club noted that his work, experience, and dedication to the sport will remain in the memories of his students, colleagues, and everyone who knew him.
Igor Ovsyannikov was born on April 3, 1939, and throughout his career, he developed a whole generation of talented players, laying the foundation for their professional achievements.
