Russian gymnast who had her meniscus removed by mistake will not return to the sport
Russian gymnast and supporter of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Lala Kramarenko, has stated that she currently has no plans to resume competing. The 21-year-old athlete made this announcement to Russian propaganda media outlets.
According to Kramarenko, she is currently participating in concert performances and views this as a new creative direction.
“I’m currently performing in concerts, and for me, this is also a form of release. I’m a creative person, and for me, concerts are something new, too. It’s not sports; it’s more about art. That’s why I really like it. And I hope to have my own show as well,” the athlete said.
When asked if she plans to compete in domestic Russian competitions, Kramarenko replied briefly: “I don’t plan to for now.”
21-year-old Lala Kramarenko is a member of the Russian national team’s reserve roster. In 2021, she became the European champion in rhythmic gymnastics in the team competition.
Earlier, media reports stated that during surgery, a doctor mistakenly removed the athlete’s meniscus instead of the damaged ligament, which kept her from competing for a long time. Kramarenko is also known for her public support of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
