Russian gymnasts were granted limited access to the World Championships in Frankfurt
Representatives from Russia and Belarus will compete at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Frankfurt, Germany, without using national symbols.
Torsten Hartmann, press secretary for the German Gymnastics Federation, said that the athletes will compete as neutral participants—without flags or national anthems. During the award ceremonies, the flag of World Gymnastics will be used if necessary.
The German Gymnastics Federation agreed on these participation terms with World Gymnastics and the German federal government. Earlier, World Gymnastics had allowed representatives of the Russian Federation to use their own national symbols.
