Sabalenka to face Pegula in US Open semifinal
In New York, United States, world number one Aryna Sabalenka reached her sixth consecutive US Open semifinal after defeating Linda Noskova in a three-set quarterfinal. The two-time reigning tournament champion beat the 21-year-old Wimbledon winner 7:6 (7:1), 3:6, 7:6 (10:7), Dawn reports.
Sabalenka came back in the third set
In the decisive set, the Belarusian was trailing 2:4 after committing two double faults in the fifth game and losing her serve. She leveled the score with a love break and then won the 10-point tiebreak. Sabalenka lost the first two points in it but ended the match with an ace on her second serve.
Noskova became the first player to take a set off Sabalenka at the current tournament. She served 18 aces and hit 46 winners, while Sabalenka had 42 winners. The victory was the world ranking leader's 18th consecutive win at Flushing Meadows.

In the semifinal, Sabalenka will face American Jessica Pegula, who defeated her compatriot Emma Navarro 3:6, 6:4, 6:3. Sabalenka beat Pegula in the 2024 US Open final and in last year's tournament semifinal.
Tiafoe advanced after five sets
Another American, Frances Tiafoe, also claimed a comeback victory in the quarterfinals. The 11th-seeded player was down two sets to Alex Michelsen and faced a 0:3 deficit in the fifth set, but won 5:7, 3:6, 7:5, 6:3, 7:6 (10:6).
World number 46 Michelsen reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time and had not lost a set before this match. In the third set, he served for the match at 5:4. The match lasted four hours and 38 minutes. Tiafoe reached the US Open semifinals for the third time in the past five years, where he will play the winner of the Carlos Alcaraz-Ben Shelton match.
