A 7-year-old Ukrainian boy set a national record in horizontal bar exercises

Seven-year-old Philip Nagorny was entered into the National Register of Records of Ukraine after performing 250 flip-ups on the horizontal bar while carrying a one-kilogram weight on each leg. This achievement is unique for his age group.

“A 7-year-old Ukrainian set a record and passed the baton to the children of the world. The achievement has been officially confirmed by the National Register of Records.

In Lausanne, Switzerland, the young Ukrainian athlete performed 250 pull-ups on the horizontal bar with a 1-kilogram weight on each leg. Time and again, even when his arms were nearly giving out, he found the strength for one more pull-up.

With his record, Philip reminds the whole world that true strength must serve peace, and that the future of Ukrainian children depends not only on themselves but also on whether the world turns its back on them or stands by their side.

The main message Philip conveys to all the children of the world through his record is this: despite the war, despite any circumstances—do not lose heart, believe in your own strength, and strive toward your goal. Children who are strong in spirit are the future of peace. This achievement has become part of the international humanitarian initiative “Peace for Children,”” Vetrova noted.

The boy’s achievement was documented in the presence of a representative from the National Register of Records of Ukraine, in compliance with all requirements and international rules.

“It was hard—especially after the 200th time. But I was thinking about the kids back home in Ukraine, who are having a much harder time right now than I am on this bar. I wanted to show everyone: we, the children, are strong, and we believe in peace. This record isn’t just mine. It’s ours—the children’s,” said Philip Nagorny.

“As a mother, I know the value of each of those 250 times. I saw how hard it was for him, and how he kept going anyway. In moments like these, you realize that children are sometimes stronger than us adults. I’m proud of my son, but even more so that this relay of records is for the sake of peace,” said Philip’s mother, Ilona.

The young record-holder has no intention of stopping. Philip Nagorny is already preparing for a new strength record under the supervision of a coach and a sports physician.

This was reported by Lana Vetrova, head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine.

The Colombian national team became the last team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup, defeating Switzerland in a penalty shootout. Neither regulation nor extra time produced a winner, so the fate of the ticket to the next round was decided by penalty kicks.

Brazil’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup following a 1–2 loss to Norway in the round of 16 was met with intense emotions in the locker room. According to Brazilian media reports, Neymar, with tears in his eyes, addressed his teammates and the coaching staff, thanking everyone for the journey they had shared.
