Serhiy Rebrov is taking a break from coaching after his stint with the Ukrainian national team
According to insiders, Serhiy Rebrov may temporarily step away from coaching after ending his tenure with the Ukrainian national team. It was previously expected that the coach would return to club football, where he had a successful track record, but his future plans remain uncertain at this time.
Despite offers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Greece, Rebrov will likely not take the helm of any team this summer. Journalist Ahmed Rajab noted on social media platform X that the coach is facing unexpected circumstances.
A representative of the Middle Eastern sports media claims that the Ukrainian coach has encountered personal issues that need to be resolved. Because of this, he is currently not ready to sign a contract with any team.
Clearly, the situation for Rebrov has changed in just the last few weeks, as back in May, rumors were actively linking him to several clubs at once, and insiders claimed that the coach’s agent was traveling to discuss his future with team executives.
Al-Wahda from the UAE and several clubs in the Saudi league, including even Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, had shown interest in the Ukrainian. Negotiations were also underway with Greek giants, among whom Panathinaikos was the most interested in Rebrov’s services.
Despite stepping down from the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov remains in an administrative role: he continues to serve as vice president of the Ukrainian Football Association and sits on its executive committee.
However, the former Dynamo player and coach ignores these duties: he resides permanently in Spain and did not attend the most recent UAF Congress meeting, which took place in Uzhhorod.
As a reminder, Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur got off to a strong start at the WTA 250 grass-court tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands).
Svitolina also confidently defeated an American player and advanced to the round of 16 at Indian Wells.
Sobolenko lost in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
