Sri Lanka knock Pakistan out in Women’s Asia Cup semi-final in the UAE
Sri Lanka’s cricket team defeated Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup semi-final in Dubai, UAE, and advanced to the final against India. Sri Lanka scored 134 runs for six wickets while chasing a target of 131, finishing the match with seven balls remaining, Dawn reports.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana remained unbeaten on 47 runs from 36 balls and took four wickets, but this was not enough for her team to win. Harshitha Samarawickrama led Sri Lanka’s chase with 36 runs from 31 balls.
Pakistan score 130 runs
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field. Pakistan began batting for the fourth consecutive match in the tournament and named an unchanged lineup for the fourth match in a row. The team started its innings slowly: Muneeba Ali was dismissed in the second over, while Ayesha Zafar scored seven runs.

Shawaal Zulfiqar hit two fours and a six but was dismissed shortly afterwards. Fatima Sana and Gull Feroza added 40 runs, while Sana and Tuba Hassan added another 38 at the end of the innings. Pakistan finished their innings on 130/6; Hassan scored 12 runs from 10 balls.
Sri Lanka partnership
Fatima Sana also made a strong start with the ball, taking two wickets from the first two deliveries of her opening over. Sri Lanka lost four wickets for 33 runs, but Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari restored the team’s position with a 67-run partnership.
Sana returned in the 17th over and dismissed Samarawickrama and Dilhari, completing four wickets in the match. However, Kaushini Nuthyangana and Nilakshika Silva guided the chase to victory. Nuthyangana hit the first six of her international career, while Silva finished the match with a four. This was Sri Lanka’s third consecutive victory over Pakistan in Asia Cup semi-finals after successes in 2022 and 2024.
