Svitolina and Kostyuk maintained their positions in the updated WTA rankings
The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has published its updated rankings following the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto. Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, remained in 9th place despite reaching the semifinals of the tournament. Marta Kostyuk also retained her 11th-place ranking.
The biggest jump in the top ten was made by the winner of the Canadian “1000” tournament, Iga Świątek—the Polish tennis player rose from 8th to 5th place. Arina Sabalenka continues to lead, but her lead over the world’s No. 2 player, Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, has narrowed to 354 points.
Among other Ukrainian tennis players, changes in ranking were recorded for:
Daria Snigur (45th) and Oleksandra Oliynikova (46th)—both dropped two spots;
Angelina Kalinina (51st) — she moved up three spots and is closing in on the top 50;
Yulia Starodubtseva (78th) — dropped 13 spots due to unprotected points from last year’s performance;
Dayana Yastremska (107th) — dropped out of the top 100 in the world rankings while recovering from a shoulder injury;
Veronika Podrez (137th), Anastasia Soboleva (195th), and Katarina Zavatska (259th) — each improved their standing by two spots.

Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, fell just short of the final at the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto. In a tense semifinal, the Ukrainian lost in three sets to former world No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland.
As a reminder, on August 11, Elina Svitolina defeated Russia’s Katerina Aleksandrova in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 in Toronto and advanced to the semifinals. The Ukrainian lost the first set but staged a comeback to win the match in three sets—3–6, 6–0, 6–3.
Prior to that, Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, secured a victory in the round of 16 at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament being held in Toronto.
