Tennis player Anna Blinkova renounced her Russian citizenship in favor of French citizenship

Anna Blinkova, ranked 94th in the world, has changed her sporting nationality and will now compete internationally for France. She has been living and training in that country for quite some time.

Throughout her career, Blinkova has won five WTA tournaments (including two in singles), reached the semifinals of the 2020 US Open and the final of the 2015 Wimbledon Junior Championships, and was ranked No. 3 in the ITF junior rankings. Her highest ranking in the WTA senior rankings was No. 34

This was reported by RMC Sport.

Since 2022, Russian tennis players have been competing in international tournaments under neutral status due to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Additionally, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has decided not to include tournaments in Russian cities on its calendar.
