Patrick Fischer, head coach of the Swiss national hockey team, has been fired for using a fake COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

This was reported by the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation.

According to the federation, Fischer used a forged certificate to circumvent travel restrictions for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The federation noted that the case has been legally concluded, but it sparked a serious public debate regarding trust and values.

Assistant coach Jan Kadier will temporarily lead the Swiss national team.
