Fans in Pakistan surround Babar Azam after dismissal — Dawn
At the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Pakistan, spectators surrounded Pakistan Test cricket captain Babar Azam as he was returning to the pavilion after being dismissed in a fourth-round President’s Trophy Grade-I match. Azam scored 21 runs. Several people entered the field of play to take photos and selfies with the athlete, so stadium staff intervened and escorted him to the team area.
According to Dawn, the incident raised concerns about player security before the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Azam’s performance
Babar Azam batted at number four for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited in the match against State Bank of Pakistan. OGDCL elected to bat first, and Azam scored 21 runs off 39 balls, hitting four boundaries. Afaq Afridi dismissed him leg before wicket.
OGDCL completed its innings with 196 runs in 50 overs. Saad Khan scored 38 runs, Niaz Khan 28, and Mohammad Hammad Khan 26. For State Bank of Pakistan, Shahid Aziz took four wickets for 31 runs, while Mubasir Khan took three wickets for 24 runs.

In reply, State Bank of Pakistan scored 94 runs for the loss of three wickets in 28 overs. Hasan Raza remained unbeaten on 52 runs, while captain Ghazi Ghori had 30. At the end of the day, the team trailed OGDCL by 102 runs with seven wickets in hand. This match is expected to be the final one for the 31-year-old Azam in the President’s Trophy.
