UMB Speed Stars defeated Black Stars Legends 6:2 in a friendly match at the Adjiringano Astro Turf in Ghana. As MyJoyOnline reports, the exhibition game was organized by Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) in cooperation with the Ghana Football Association and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana.

Black Stars Legends featured former Ghana national team players, including Sammy Adjei, Fatau Dauda, Yaw Preko, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Daniel Opare, and former national team forward Abdul Majeed Waris. The exhibition match also brought together football officials.
The event took place amid UMB's expanding involvement in Ghanaian football. The bank became the title sponsor of the Ghana Division One League.

Footballers' financial literacy
UMB Managing Director Philip Oti-Mensah said that the bank invests in football because of the sport's popularity among Ghanaians. According to him, the partnership also promotes UMB brand recognition through references to the Black Stars and the Ghana Football Association.
Oti-Mensah emphasized the importance of financial literacy for footballers. He said that, as part of the partnership or sponsorship program, players are helped to open accounts, taught how to manage money, and informed about investment principles.
The Ghana Football Association welcomed the strengthening of cooperation with UMB, noting that partnerships with corporate institutions are important for developing the game and creating sustainable opportunities in football.
