Oleksandra Oliinykova will donate 2.4 million hryvnias in prize money from the U.S. Open to the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynikova will donate 2.4 million hryvnias—which she received as prize money at the 2026 U.S. Open—to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The athlete will allocate a portion of the funds she earned at the tournament to support Ukrainian troops.
The funds will go to the “Spalah” Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, which Oliynikova has been supporting for a long time.
Of the total amount, 2 million UAH will be used to purchase necessary equipment and components for the battalion. Another 400,000 UAH will go toward purchasing and donating a Mercedes cargo minivan to the unit.
“This year marks my first full season on the WTA Tour, which offers substantial prize money and international attention, allowing me not only to donate my own funds but also to raise donations from abroad. In addition to what we are donating now, in 2026 we provided our sponsored units with approximately 150,000 euros in support. And the year isn’t over yet. I hope that next year we’ll be able to increase that figure several times over. For me, that’s the whole point of competing on the tour,” said Oliynikova.
The Ukrainian tennis player also noted that as part of the Drones4UA.org project, a fundraiser is currently underway to collect 189,000 UAH for 10 Starlink Mini terminals for the “Apache” Unmanned Systems Battalion “Apache” of the 81st Separate Airborne Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
