Italy's Fiorentina sacks coach Fabio Grosso after three defeats
In Italy, football club Fiorentina has sacked head coach Fabio Grosso after three consecutive defeats at the start of the Serie A season. The team is bottom of the standings, Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters.
Three defeats at the start
Fiorentina lost 0-4 away to Roma, were beaten 0-3 at home by top-flight newcomers Frosinone, and suffered a 1-2 home defeat to Torino on Saturday.
In three matches, the team scored one goal and conceded nine. Fiorentina will play their next Italian league match away against Venezia on Friday.
Less than three months in charge
The 48-year-old Grosso took charge of Fiorentina on June 8, replacing Paolo Vanoli, and signed a two-year contract. He spent less than three months in the role.

Vanoli led the club to 15th place last season after replacing Stefano Pioli. Pioli was sacked after a 10-match winless run.
Before joining Fiorentina, Grosso worked with Sassuolo: in his first season, he guided the team to Serie A and later helped it finish in the middle of the table. He also coached Bari, Verona, Brescia, Sion, Frosinone and Olympique Lyon.
Playing career
As a player, Grosso represented Italy and converted the decisive penalty in the 2006 World Cup final against France.
