Kaizer Chiefs beat Siwelele 3:2 in South African league match
Kaizer Chiefs defeated Siwelele 3:2 in a Betway Premiership match at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, South Africa. With the victory, the team maintained contact with Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the title race, TimesLIVE reports.
First-half advantage
The match took place on the evening of September 6 in rainy and cold weather. Kaizer Chiefs were more active in midfield from the start, where Lebogang Maboe and Sifisihle Ndlovu won most of their duels against Siwelele players Shadrack Kobedi and Relebogile Makhwoane.
Mfundo Vilakazi opened the scoring in the 30th minute. He chipped the ball over Siwelele goalkeeper Samkelo Xulu after a pass from Maboe. Mduduzi Shabalala, Pule Mmodi and Dillan Solomons also took part in Kaizer Chiefs' attacks.

Goals after the break
In the 65th minute, Wandile Duba doubled Kaizer Chiefs' lead by scoring with his heel. Three minutes later, Afīwe Baliti reduced Siwelele's deficit. In the 77th minute, following a free kick by Faiz Abrahams, the ball deflected off Xulu and went into the visitors' net.
Siwelele scored their second goal in stoppage time, with Hamza Issa finding the net. Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz kept goalkeeper Brandon Petersen in the starting lineup despite his mistakes in previous matches. The team also again played with three central defenders — Zitha Kwinika, Thabo Moloisane and Inacio Miguel; da Cruz used this formation in the two previous matches against Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay.
