Video: Zenit celebrated its championship title to a song by a pro-Ukrainian band
On May 19, St. Petersburg’s Zenit published a video celebrating its victory in the Russian championship, featuring ABBA’s song “The Winner Takes It All.” On the club’s Telegram channel, the video of the championship celebrations sparked controversy due to the musical accompaniment and the context of the post.
The Russians chose the song “The Winner Takes It All” by the legendary band ABBA as the soundtrack for the video.
It is worth noting that ABBA is known for its support of Ukraine.
In particular, one of the founders of the legendary group, Björn Ulvaeus, has repeatedly spoken out in support of Ukrainians.
He even recorded a video message in which he said in Ukrainian: “We are with you, Ukraine.” Ulvaeus also noted that Ukraine is fighting for European democracy.
