The Wimbledon tennis tournament has announced a record prize pool
The organizers of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London have officially announced a historic record in prize money for the 2026 tournament.
The total prize pool for this year’s grass-court “major” has increased to a staggering £64,200,000, representing a sharp 20% increase compared to last season.
The largest prize money is traditionally reserved for the winners of the main draw.
The future champions in the men’s and women’s singles will each receive £3,600,000, which is 20% more than last year’s figures, while the finalists will take home £1,800,000, increasing their earnings by 18%.
The significant increase in prize money will also benefit athletes who are eliminated in the early rounds.
Specifically, tennis players who lose in the first round of the main draw will earn £80,000, and players who are defeated at the very start of the qualifying round will earn £20,000.
This was reported on the official Wimbledon website.
