Winger Mohamed Salah scores twice in Trabzonspor victory
Trabzonspor defeated Istanbul Basaksehir 2:1 in a Turkish Super Lig match. Winger Mohamed Salah scored both of his team’s goals and helped it claim its first victory of the season, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Salah’s first goals in the Super Lig
Salah opened the scoring in the eighth minute, taking advantage of a mistake by Basaksehir goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer, who failed to hold onto the ball. It was the Egyptian footballer’s first league match in Trabzonspor’s starting lineup: he came on as a substitute in the first game of the season.
In the 19th minute, Eldor Shomurodov converted a penalty to level the score. However, three minutes after the start of the second half, Salah put Trabzonspor ahead again. He broke through down the right flank, exchanged passes with Ernest Muci and fired into the far corner.

Two disallowed goals
In stoppage time, the referee disallowed another Salah goal because of a foul in the buildup. The winger also sent the ball into an empty net with a long-range shot when the opposing goalkeeper went forward for a corner, but that goal was disallowed for offside.
Salah joined Trabzonspor as a free agent after nine years at Liverpool. Next Thursday, the team will play the second leg away against Ferencvaros in the Europa League play-off round. Trabzonspor lost the first meeting at home 0:1.
