Ferran Torres’ brace earns PSG a draw against Rennes in Ligue 1
Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 away to Rennes in the opening match of the French Ligue 1 season. Ferran Torres, who made his debut for the Parisians after joining from Barcelona, came off the bench and scored twice late in the match.

Rennes’ lead before the break
Rennes opened the scoring as early as the ninth minute: Sebastian Szymanski’s shot hit the post and went into the net. Desire Doue scored for PSG shortly afterwards, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Seven minutes before half-time, the Rennes side doubled their lead. Przemyslaw Frankowski found space on the right flank and sent a low cross into the penalty area, which Esteban Lepaul converted into a goal. Lepaul was Ligue 1’s top scorer last season.
Two goals from Torres
PSG increased the pressure in the second half and reduced the deficit with 19 minutes remaining. Torres avoided an offside position, received a pass from Fabian Ruiz and scored his first goal for the Parisian club.
In the 83rd minute, the Spanish forward equalised, again capitalising on a pass from Ruiz — this time following a cross from the left flank. PSG were unable to score a third goal before the end of the match, which finished 2-2.
