Ukrainian tennis players have learned the names of their opponents at the U.S. Open

On August 28, Ukrainian tennis players learned who their opponents would be in the first round of the U.S. Open. The main draw of the US Open begins on August 30, and Ukraine will be represented in women’s singles by Elina Svitolina, Yulia Starodubtseva, Oleksandra Oliinykova, and Daria Snigur, among others.

 

Seven athletes will represent Ukraine at the upcoming US Open: Elina Svitolina [9], Marta Kostyuk [11], Daria Snigur, Oleksandra Oliinykova, Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, and Dayana Yastremska.

First-round draw results for the Ukrainian women at the US Open:

  • Elina Svitolina [9] – Solana Sierra (Argentina)
  • Marta Kostyuk [11] – qualifier
  • Daria Snigur vs. Diana Schneider
  • Oleksandra Oliinikova – Reese Brantmeier (USA)
  • Yulia Starodubtseva – Ella Seidel (Germany)
  • Angelina Kalinina – qualifier
  • Dayana Yastremska – qualifier

At the last US Open, only four Ukrainian tennis players represented Ukraine: Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremska, and Yulia Starodubtseva. No one except Marta managed to get past the first round. Kostyuk, however, reached the fourth round, where she lost to Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic.

Earlier, Barcelona fans staged a protest in support of Catalonia.

As a reminder, Atlético refused to negotiate with Barcelona regarding Julián Álvarez.
