Three quarterfinal matchups have been determined for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

At the 2026 World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, three of the four quarterfinal matchups have been determined. The next stage of the tournament will kick off with matches between France and Morocco, Norway and England, and Spain and Belgium.

The first quarterfinal match will take place on July 9 at 11:00 p.m. Kyiv time, when the national teams of France and Morocco take the field. The other matches in this stage of the tournament will be played after the final quarterfinalist is determined.

The Moroccan national team advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to a convincing victory over Canada. Azzedine Ounai was the hero of the match, scoring twice. First, the midfielder opened the scoring off a set piece, and in the second half, he sealed the victory with a precise shot into the top corner of the net. Soufiane Rahimi had another chance to extend the lead, but his long-range shot hit the crossbar.

France, for its part, defeated Paraguay. The match was decided in the 67th minute when, after reviewing the VAR, the referee awarded a penalty for a foul on Désiré Doué. Kylian Mbappé confidently converted the penalty kick, securing a narrow victory for France and a spot in the quarterfinals.

The 2026 World Cup is the first in history to feature 48 national teams. The tournament is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and the final will take place on July 19.

This was reported by Glavkom.

As a reminder, the Spanish national team became the latest quarterfinalist in the 2026 World Cup, narrowly defeating Portugal in a highly anticipated Iberian derby. The outcome of the Round of 16 match was decided by a single goal scored in stoppage time of the second half.

The Belgian national team confidently defeated the United States 4–1 in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
