Poltava-based "Vorskla" has not received certification to participate in competitions organized by the Professional Football League for the 2026/27 season and will lose its professional status.
The club explained that it was unable to pass the certification process due to a significant amount of debt that had accumulated since 2021. Due to financial problems, the team did not meet the necessary criteria for participation in professional tournaments.
At the same time, the club’s management announced its intention to restructure, streamline operations, and attract new investors and sponsors. Vorskla hopes to return to professional football in the 2027/28 season.
In the 2025/26 season, the Poltava club competed in the First League after being relegated from the UPL. The team earned 30 points in 30 matches and finished in 14th place.
Vorskla is one of Ukraine’s most famous clubs. The team’s greatest achievement was winning the Ukrainian Cup in the 2008/09 season, when they defeated Shakhtar Donetsk in the final. The club has also competed twice in the group stage of the Europa League.
