Defender Bassey calls Fulham captaincy a great honour
In England, Nigerian Fulham centre-back Calvin Bassey called the opportunity to captain the club “unbelievable”. In the first three matches of the English Premier League season, he took to the pitch wearing the captain’s armband after new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa entrusted him with the role.

The defender also said that he is not inclined to shout at teammates when the team has a poor result. Before matches, he seeks to maintain a positive mood, and after defeats he prefers to give players time before discussing problems. According to him, footballers make every effort, although they cannot always win.
Josh King and the start of the season
Bassey praised 19-year-old Josh King, who has already scored two goals for Fulham this season. The captain noted the young teammate’s work after training, his finishing drills and gym sessions. In Bassey’s view, King is needed by the team and is attracting the attention of fans and the Premier League.
After three matches, Fulham have yet to earn any points. At the same time, Bassey sees positive moments in the team’s play and notes that the footballers need time to adapt to Arbeloa’s demands, as he has been working with them for about two months. Next weekend, Fulham will play Liverpool at Anfield.
