Forward Iñaki Williams ends Ghana international career — MyJoyOnline

Athletic forward Iñaki Williams, who played for Ghana’s national team, announced his retirement from international football at the age of 32. He made 28 appearances for Ghana’s national team, known as the Black Stars, since his debut in 2022.

Appearances for Ghana’s national team

As MyJoyOnline reports, Williams scored two goals for Ghana’s national team. He played for the team at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups and also took part in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. At that tournament, Ghana’s national team failed to advance from the group.

Switch from Spain to Ghana

In July 2022, the footballer changed his sporting nationality to represent Ghana after playing for Spain. He made one appearance for Spain’s national team, playing in a friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016.

Williams received his first call-up to Ghana’s national team in September 2022 from then-head coach Otto Addo. He was invited for friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua ahead of the World Cup. After ending his national team career, the forward will focus on playing for Athletic.
