The Iranian national team threatens to withdraw from the World Cup early due to an LGBT protest

The Iranian and Egyptian national teams are prepared to boycott the match and walk off the field if a planned demonstration in support of the LGBT community takes place before their head-to-head match at the World Cup in the United States.

Authorities in Seattle, Washington, categorically refuse to cancel the event, despite official protests and ultimatums from Iran’s Ministry of Sports and the soccer federations of both countries.

The third-round group stage match of the World Cup between the national teams of Iran and Egypt is scheduled to take place on June 27 at a stadium in Seattle.

However, the match is under serious threat due to the Iranian side’s categorical refusal to participate in events that contradict their domestic beliefs.

Iranian authorities are demanding that international soccer officials ensure complete neutrality in the sporting arena during the World Cup.

The protests concern any manifestations of social and political activism that have not been agreed upon with the match participants.

Iranian sports officials emphasize their readiness to take drastic measures to protect their own religious and national values.

“We have clearly informed the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) that if our delegation or players encounter any political insults or unauthorized slogans inside the stadium, we will not hesitate to immediately order the team to leave the field and suspend the match. We are here to compete. It is unacceptable to introduce political or social agendas into this match that do not align with our principles and values,” Donyamali stated.
