Apple introduces new AI features for home cameras with plans up to $60 per month — The Verge
Apple has added new Apple Intelligence features for compatible home cameras to its HomeKit Secure Video service, but access to them will require an iCloud Plus subscription costing from $9.99 to $59.99 per month. The update became available with the public release of iOS 27 and tvOS 27.
As The Verge reports, the new tools create short text summaries of camera videos, describing the people and events captured. Apple also added video search and the ability to combine footage from several cameras into a single clip.
Plans for cameras
Using Apple Intelligence with one camera requires an iCloud Plus plan with 2 TB of storage for $9.99 per month. An alternative is an Apple One Premier subscription for $39.95 per month. To connect AI features to a second camera, a 6 TB plan for $29.99 per month is required, while using multiple cameras requires a 12 TB plan for $59.99 per month, which supports up to five cameras.

Recordings from cameras connected to HomeKit do not count toward the cloud storage limit. At the same time, Apple did not specify whether Apple Intelligence can be connected to more than five cameras.
What changes for existing users
The basic HomeKit Secure Video capabilities remain unchanged. Previously, the 50 GB iCloud Plus plan for $0.99 per month allowed video recording from one camera and included smart notifications and facial recognition. The 2 TB plan for $9.99 supported up to five cameras, while the 6 TB plan and higher supported an unlimited number of cameras without the new AI tools.
The new software versions also include internal updates aimed at improving the speed and reliability of the service and add support for 4K video.
