Bloomberg: Stripe May Acquire OpenRouter for More Than $7 Billion

Stripe has reportedly finalized a deal to acquire OpenRouter, a startup that provides access to various artificial intelligence models. This was reported by Bloomberg, according to TechCrunch. According to Bloomberg, the deal is valued at over $7 billion.

OpenRouter helps clients select AI models for various tasks based on their needs and budget. The platform provides a single point of access to different systems and, according to the company, helps avoid dependence on a single vendor.

In May, OpenRouter announced that it had raised $113 million in a Series B funding round. At that time, it was valued at $1.3 billion. The startup named Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, and Capital G among its investors.

OpenRouter CEO Alex Atalla previously compared the startup to Stripe in the AI space, as the platform provides access to various systems through a single point of entry. The company also reported having 8 million users worldwide and access to over 400 models.

Last month, The Wall Street Journal reported that Stripe and OpenRouter were in acquisition talks. A Stripe spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company does not comment on rumors or speculation.
