Experts tested 100 TVs continuously for three years and reported their findings

Experts conducted a large-scale experiment in which approximately 100 televisions operated continuously for three years. During this time, the devices accumulated approximately 18,000 hours of operation, which is equivalent to watching TV for three hours a day over a period of 16 years. Based on the test results, experts identified the models that demonstrated the highest reliability and resilience to prolonged use.

A Canadian technology organization conducted an unusual experiment to determine which modern TVs are capable of operating the longest without major breakdowns. For the test, 102 TVs of various brands and technologies were selected and operated continuously for three years.

Over three years, the devices accumulated approximately 18,000 hours of use. This is equivalent to watching TV for 3 hours a day for 16 years.

The study aimed to answer one of the main questions buyers have: how durable are modern TVs, and should you worry about expensive repairs a few years after purchase?

During the tests, experts evaluated devices with LCD, LED, and OLED screens. The TVs operated 24/7, including overnight, at high brightness, which placed additional strain on the components.

The results exceeded expectations. Of the 102 devices, only 20 completely failed, while another 24 exhibited minor issues related to image quality degradation or backlight performance. Most TVs successfully completed the tests without any serious malfunctions.

One of the most interesting findings was that the main problems arose not with the screen panels, but with the backlight systems. In particular, in LCD TVs, even the failure of a single LED can lead to dark spots appearing on the screen. According to experts, backlight malfunctions are often the reason for replacing older LCD models.

OLED TVs were particularly surprising. Despite the widespread belief that such panels are less durable, it was the OLED models that ranked among the most reliable devices in the test. Experts attribute this to the absence of a separate backlight system: each pixel emits light independently. Although image burn-in was observed in isolated cases, such defects occurred mainly under extreme operating conditions.

Among manufacturers, select models from LG and TCL showed the best results. Some Samsung and Sony TVs also demonstrated good reliability. At the same time, experts emphasize that reliability can vary significantly even among models of the same brand, so a manufacturer cannot be evaluated based on just one device.

Based on the results of the experiment, experts concluded that modern TVs are significantly more reliable than is commonly believed, and OLED technology proved to be one of the most resilient to prolonged intensive use.

Thanks to artificial intelligence technologies and modern methods of processing anthropological data, researchers were able to transform information from skeletal remains into a realistic portrait of an elderly man
