A farm in the Cherkasy region has begun testing 2.5-kg exoskeletons designed to reduce the strain on the back and arm muscles of milkers during four-hour shifts.
As farm director Tetiana Lyashenko explained, the devices are meant to make work easier for employees who have to constantly lift milking machines. The farm has 750 cows, which are milked three times a day by just two workers.
Milker Khristina Stetsenko noted that the suit is barely noticeable on her back and helps alleviate pain in her back, legs, and arms. If the trial proves successful, the farm plans to purchase two such devices.
According to Oleksandr Nazarko, owner of a dairy automation company, these patented devices are already in use at 1,500 dairy farms in 40 countries around the world. One exoskeleton from the Netherlands costs €5,000.
