Microsoft CEO Nadella calls for measured AI development
In Türkiye, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella said that advanced artificial intelligence systems must remain under human control and that their safe deployment requires a measured pace. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
Human control over AI
Nadella wrote on X that the development of superintelligence should be based on the principle of benefiting humanity and human control. In his view, the creation of such systems should not continue if they do not help humanity or are not under human control.
The Microsoft chief supported a measured pace needed to properly align AI systems, as well as proposals for embedded evaluators that would monitor systems directly inside laboratories. He called on industry participants to turn safety concepts into concrete working mechanisms.

Governance and AI models
According to Nadella, AI governance cannot be controlled by a few entities: it must provide for broad representation across the ecosystem, countries and different sectors, including academia. He also noted that both closed and open-source models should develop for a healthy ecosystem of advanced models.
Nadella added that companies should retain control over their own unique and implicit knowledge. He believes organizations need continuous-learning architectures that allow them to control their own model weights and not depend on a single developer. Microsoft plans to put a code of conduct for its Microsoft AI (MAI) models up for public discussion on Monday.
The statement came amid intensifying discussion about AI safety protocols. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed placing independent experts inside laboratories, while OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said his company would adopt this approach.
