Chinese deputy calls for banning AI use by schoolchildren in learning
A deputy of the National People's Congress of China and member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chen Zhongyi, has called for preventing students from using artificial intelligence (AI) too early in their education.
According to him, excessive reliance on AI not only harms eyesight but also impedes the development of thinking, imagination, and creative abilities. Chen suggested adopting the practices of some countries by banning minors from using AI to complete homework.
He also believes that phones and iPads should be banned in schools to help children maintain habits of independent studying and discipline.
This initiative highlights concerns about technology’s impact on the development of the younger generation and may lead to a reconsideration of school policies regarding digital device usage in education.
