Commercial 6G networks will become available in China by 2030
6G mobile communication technology is expected to enter the commercial market in China around 2030, following the approval of the relevant international standards. This was announced by Sun Shaohui, Chief Scientific Officer at CICT Mobile.
According to him, the global telecom industry, coordinated by the International Telecommunication Union, has reached a consensus on the development directions, application scenarios, and key requirements for 6G. The technology aims to significantly improve data transmission speeds and the number of connections, while making network services more flexible and personalised. China began researching 6G standards in 2018 and launched its first official project in this area in September 2024.
The rollout of 6G is expected to create new opportunities for the Internet of Things, intelligent networks, and improve connectivity across industries, fostering innovation in various sectors.
